Healthy Habits Coaching for Teens
Guiding teens to implement Healthy Habit Shifts consistently so they maintain a feel-good weight & positive body image, never yo-yo diet and cultivate unshakable confidence in school and beyond.

After living and working at a middle school for over 25 years, I know firsthand that teens will often listen to a coach, teacher, friend or social influencer rather than a parent (even if they’re saying the same thing).
Pushing boundaries and ignoring parent guidance is typical teen behavior. However, it can be especially concerning if their choices are working against their well-being or leading to undesired results.
That’s why having someone else guide your teen to establish Healthy Habit Shifts that will increase their confidence and success in all areas of their life can have such a positive impact.
Here’s how Healthy Habits Coaching supports teens.
1 Stressor Inventory Session: (50 minutes)
During the first session, I will uncover your teen’s unique stressors that are negatively impacting their self esteem and causing them to establish unhealthy habits to soothe themselves. We will end the session with Phase 3 and 4.
8 Teen Coaching Sessions: (25 minutes)
Phase 1: Celebration of Progress
We begin each coaching session focusing on what is going right and celebrating all steps in the right direction, so your teen can recognize and feel proud of their progress. (Progress is tracked in the Habit Share App throughout the week) This sets up a positive tone for the sessions.
While celebrating, I also emphasize why the new Healthy Habit Shift is important to their long term health and happiness, so your teen will begin to see the value for themselves and become more committed to being consistent with their Healthy Habit Shifts.
Phase 2: Identifying and Reducing Stressors
We then dive into the stressors that have come up throughout the week and develop a plan to reduce their impact so your teen can have more success implementing their new Healthy Habit Shifts consistently.
I will introduce different concepts and strategies related to maintaining a feel-good weight and positive body image based on the stressors that we uncover.
Phase 3: Healthy Habit Shifts
The 5 types of Healthy Habits Shifts are increasing stress resilience, increasing balanced nutrition, increasing peace and joy, increasing self-trust and increasing positive self-talk.
At the end of each session, your teen and I will work together to create the Healthy Habit Shifts for the week so that they feel sustainable. We will then add the Healthy Habit Shifts to the Habit Share App for them to record their progress throughout the week.
Your teen is given 1 to 5 Healthy Habit Shifts based on their personal goals and stressors to work into their day along with strategies on how to be consistent. Sometimes Healthy Habit Shifts remain the same for a couple of weeks until the new habit is solidly formed. Once your teen is having success consistently taking action, then they move onto different Healthy Habit Shifts.
Throughout the coaching process your teen will add all 5 types of Healthy Habit Shifts into their daily routine.
Phase 4: Support Between Sessions
I will follow your teen in the Habit Share App. In between sessions, I will periodically text your teen to celebrate their consistency or encourage them if they are struggling a bit. I will also text reminders if I see that they are not recording their progress.
Oftentimes, when teens know someone supportive is going to be asking, they are more likely to follow through; therefore, they have greater success reaching their goals.
3 Parent Sessions: (25 minutes)
You know your child best, so I love being able to connect with you to get your input as well as discussing the celebrations and areas that could use some improvement. You can schedule your parent sessions at any point, but every three weeks is recommended.
Session Summaries
After each session, you will be e-mailed a summary of the successes that were celebrated, the topic discussed during the session and the Healthy Habit Shifts to develop over the coming week. This way, you can help celebrate the progress, encourage the implementation of the new habits and be part of the process and success of your teen.
I guarantee your teen will feel supported while being pushed just slightly outside of their comfort zone.
